Matchbox Pictures is a prolific film and television production company with offices in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia.
We are a creative-led company who make world-class content for a global audience. Producing over 55 titles since 2012, we have worked with every network in Australia and various international buyers and commissioners.
Our recent credits include the drama Stateless starring Cate Blanchett and Yvonne Strahovski, which premiered at the 2020 Berlin Film Festival, the International Emmy Award winning mini-series Safe Harbour, the political thriller, Secret City featuring Jacki Weaver and Anna Torv, and paranormal drama Glitch which the New York Times named as one of the Best TV Shows on Netflix. Matchbox has recently wrapped on a new 8-part drama Clickbait for Netflix, a co-production with Heyday Television starring Zoe Kazan, Betty Gabriel and Adrian Grenier. On the Unscripted slate, Matchbox has produced seven series of Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise across Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland.
Matchbox is one of the most credentialed and awarded producers in Australia. We have won International Emmys, Prix de Jour, AACTAs, IF, Logies, SPA Awards and BAFTAs. We have been awarded Production Company of the Year by the Screen Producers’ Association of Australia in three of the last seven years.
The company is well known for its diversity and inclusion in front of and behind the camera. In 2019, Matchbox Pictures was the winner of the annual SDIN (Screen Diversity & Inclusion Network) Award for its diverse slate of programming in 2019, in particular The Heights, a serial for ABC Australia which also screened on BBC One, and the Vietnamese-Australian drama Hungry Ghosts.
